the only complaint i ever had about cosette and marius was how it seemed like she completely disregarded how traumatized he was by the deaths of his friends in “every day”. however, in the movie when they added her being upset about valjean leaving her and marius trying to comfort her, that one small addition makes them feel like a balanced couple. him doing the same thing to her makes it seem like cosette wasn’t so much in the wrong by trying to make him forget.
